Their strategy is to stay at range and pound enemies with their MAC's and long-range missiles - should the enemy attempt to close the distance, UNSC vessels will often find themselves with few options to fight back effectively. These cannons are able to fire at great range and deliver considerable damage, at the cost of a low rate of a fire and considerable flux usage. The defining feature of UNSC ships are their Magnetic Accelerator Cannons - enormous coilguns spanning nearly the entire length of the vessels. As it turned out, the ringed-shaped construct was not a Halo, but instead a dimensionally displaced Domain gate. When some of the researchers attempted to probe it, it activated what little energy reserves the construct had left to catapult the fleet through time and space to the edge of Persean sector. The Autumn-class heavy cruiser is based on the Halcyon's unique hull design.I literally only used it in one line of code though.It branches off into the heavy cruiser, frigate, destroyer, and carrier tree. This is the only light cruiser in the UNSC Tree.The UNSC Pillar of Autumn from Halo Combat Evolved was a Halcyon-class ship.The Covenant called this ship the "Human Attack Ship Class-II.".Its MAC allows it to take on enemy ships at range, its missiles give chip damage at any engagement range, and its strong close defense complement makes it hardened against enemy carriers. This ship is good at almost everything and bad at almost nothing.At the same time, two of its Autocannon are placed on its flanks, so they will more or less be relegated to AA duty only.
This allows it to do well in most engagements regardless of range, and even make a pass at some Tier IIIs.
It also sports a decent number of missiles and a somewhat terrifying level of PD for its tier. The Halcyon is a good all around ship, with a fair amount of health and firepower for its weight class.It was one of the more numerous Cruisers in the UNSC's inventory, and would later achieve fame in the Pillar of Autumn. The Halcyon-class Light Cruiser (hal-see-uhn) is a Tier II UNSC Light Cruiser from Halo franchise.
